Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Outpatient clinics for FND
Community Psychological Medicine in Berkshire provides specialist outpatient assessment and treatment for patients with FND. The clinic accepts referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Rosa Burden Centre, Southmead Hospital
Specialist help including physiotherapy and psychological therapy.
At the Rosa Burden Centre we have psychiatrists, therapists and nurses with lots of experience working with patients with these symptoms.
Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Addenbrooke’s Hospital
At the clinic held at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, our team will carry out a full assessment of your condition before developing a tailored treatment plan. This plan will vary for each individual dependent on their symptoms, and could include medication and physiotherapy.

Islington Community Neuro-rehabilitation Team (ICNRT)
ICNRT are a community based multidisciplinary service that is highlight committed to providing specialist neurorehabilitation for the adult residents of Islington
They promote independence whilst maximising safety and managing risk. They aim to minimise impairment, while enhancing activity, participation, wellbeing and quality of life. They strive to be responsive and accessible in providing high quality integrated client-centred services.
St Georges Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust
St George’s provides assessment and treatment for FND across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. We routinely diagnose patients with FND in outpatient clinics, as well as on the acute medical/neurology wards at St George’s. Patients move through our pathway receiving rehabilitation for FND either as an outpatient or after being admitted for inpatient neurorehabilitation.
National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
The NHNN has a long-established treatment programme for patients with FND within the Neuropsychiatry Department.
Patients may be referred to our MDT Outpatient Clinic for assessment of suitability for treatment. The referring doctor needs to have made a positive diagnosis of FND and to have explained this to the patient. We do not provide a diagnostic service for this condition. Patients will be seen by a Neuropsychiatrist or CNS-Neuropsychiatry and one or more therapists (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy).
Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust
The Walton Centre is the only specialist hospital trust in the UK dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services.
We serve a catchment area of 3.5 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, the Isle of Man and North Wales and beyond. We have service partnerships with 18 NHS Hospitals across the area.
The Functional Neurology Service is one of the newest services at the Trust and is still relatively limited. We have plans for development and hope that our service will increase and improve over coming years.
FuND Service, Gaskell House, Great Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust
The FuND Service offers specialist psychological assessment and treatment for people with functional (i.e. ‘medically unexplained’) neurological symptom disorders. We offer the main evidence-based approaches for functional neurological symptoms.
John Radcliffe NHS Trust Hospital
Our service for Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) begins of course with the Neurologists, and our specific service for FND sits within the wider Psychological Medicine Department. At present we have part of the time of a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, who offers assessment/diagnosis, psychiatric treatments and referral, and part of the time of a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and a Clinical Psychologist who offer assessment/diagnosis and MBCT (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy), and we have the possibility of referral to our local rehab Physiotherapy team. As appropriate, referrals can also be made to out-of-county specialist FND services.
Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Our team consists of 6 part time specialist psychotherapists, and a specialist psychotherapy manager. We work closely with the consultant neurologists and other colleagues in the department of Neurology who refer people to our service.
